Talika has been a Muscle Bound Fitness – 60 Day Transformation Challenge participant in the past and has excelled. She’s even featured on our Challenge promotional poster! Her success was not only due to her hard work (her work ethic really is incredible) but her willingness to go the extra mile and help her fellow teammates.
Here’s a bit about Talika in her own words:
I have always loved the idea of being healthy and fit…and of course looking awesome in that summer dress or bikini. But even though I was hitting the gym 4-5 days a week sometimes, I wasn’t there. There was always something on me that didn’t look right. I would try and eat healthy but really, I had no idea what I was doing. I had tried to see a nutritionist before but her meal plan was completely unrealistic for me, especially as a Type 1 Diabetic, so that failed quickly.
Then I started seeing Sophie’s posts on facebook and noticed that she had started taking on clients so I emailed her and asked if I could join one of her challenges. Nothing gets me going like a little competition. It was a lot of work figuring everything out and it was a learning process for everyone as this was one of Sophie’s first challenges but what happened was amazing. All of us who were putting the effort in were getting SO MUCH out of it! I lost so much weight and so many inches! I was even one of the ones selected for her 60 Day transformation challenge poster (try and guess which one :p).
I’ve joined two more challenges since and while I’m not always “on program” I always feel so much better when I am. And on those challenges, I absolutely LOVE to help others try to reach their goals by helping to answer questions, giving ideas, meal tips or just some extra motivation to get out of bed, put on those runners and hit the gym! Not only does it make me feel good to help others, but it also motivates me to stay on track. It is so great when you read those posts about how people’s clothes are too big on them or how they are eating so much and still losing weight or how great they feel and how much energy they have. By joining MBF as an ambassador, I get to do this and experience this every day and I am super excited to be here. Let’s do this!
Kamerine is a previous winner of the Muscle Bound Fitness – 60 Day Transformation Challenge participant – a very well deserved win! Kamerine also has an incredibly important professional role as a Doula (in fact, she was mine!) – so to say that she understands how demanding life can be is an understatement.
Here’s a bit about Kamerine in her own words:
I did the 60-day challenge in the summer of 2015 and to say that it changed my life is dramatic but absolutely true. My kids were 4 and 5 at the time and I was ready to finally learn to take care of myself but eating properly and exercising. I learned so much about food and exercise and myself in those 60 days. That knowledge has allowed me to enjoy a healthy relationship with food and I now know that I have what it takes to set goals and to achieve them.
Changing habits isn’t easy. It can be hard and grueling and you’ll want to quit. I wanted to quit more times than I’ll admit, but I’m glad I stuck it out. Having help along the way from a coach and support from others doing the challenge really made a difference. The team atmosphere is so supportive and encouraging. And when you slip up, because you likely will slip up, those same people will rally around you and pick you up.
If I can help even one person make positive changes in their life, I’ll be happy. It’s worth it. Small changes can amount to so much if you’re willing to put in the time and effort. You’ll be happier and healthier and isn’t that what it’s all about?
Shannon has been a client for as long as I can remember and has always been a cheerleader for her teammates. She has always been the first to offer advice and extend supportive words – which is why she is a natural fit as an Ambassador!
Here’s more about Shannon in her own words:
While I had always been actively involved in sports, I seemed able to spend less and less time on my health and fitness after I had three children. Their needs came first and slowly other things moved ahead of my health, until it got to the point that it was SO far down on my list that I could no longer even see the number! My children, my demanding job, my volunteer and coaching commitments, were all taking priority over my own health and fitness. I joined one of Sophie’s challenges in January 2014 and decided to commit to making some real changes in my life. I wanted to lose those “last few pounds” but more importantly I wanted to FEEL better. I wanted my energy back and I didn’t want to feel like every day was me juggling all the balls and stressing out when I dropped some of them.
I changed my eating – I followed Sophie’s guidelines, with her help, and watched my metabolism kick start itself into gear. Each week my macros would increase, and I was eating more and more calories while staying lean. I dove into resistance training and doing weights and within a couple months I didn’t even recognize my strong, muscular body. Yes, it was HARD to do it. There are still days where it is HARD. But, for the most part, I’ve stuck with it for the past 2.5 years and have worked as a client of Sophie’s for much of that time. I’m thankful to have been a Muscle Bound Fitness ambassador for the past year, and am lucky to have the opportunity to help others on their health and fitness journeys!
Kim was a recent SUMMER Body in 60 participant. It was a pretty tight race, but while Kim didn’t take first place, her attitude and commitment to change was so encouraging that I asked her to join us as an Ambassador. For the entire challenge Kim was upbeat and positive, and among the first to encourage her teammates. It was an easy choice.
Here’s a bit about Kim in her own words:
I’ve always thought about my weight. At times, I’ve had a pretty healthy relationship with it. At others, it’s been downright miserable. I’d previously been following another nutrition program and just wasn’t getting the results I’d been hoping for. I’d stalled. Again.
Over the May long weekend, I was visiting a friend who lived in Ottawa and she looked amazing! She then introduced me to Sophie’s challenges. All the stars lined up. I just squeaked into her Summer Body in 60 Challenge. The best part? I was successful. Sophie’s program gave me what I had been missing in all (and there were lots) of my weight loss attempts. She taught me how to eat. To make sure I was getting the right combinations of food for me. To not look at missteps as an excuse to give up but rather to learn from them and figure out why I made those choices.
This journey continues for me. I have 2 wonderful children – almost 3 and almost 6. I want to be the best example for them. I want them both to have healthy relationships with food. I have an amazing husband, I want to be healthy and around for a long time to be with him.
Currently, I work as an event planner at Conestoga College. I love my job and being around the students. They really see amazing bunch! I grew up in New Brunswick, went to school in Ontario, moved to Calgary then have been back in Ontario since 2008. Besides hanging with the fam, I’m an avid reader (my goal is one book a week and I’m always up for recommendations), love travelling and enjoying a great glass of red wine.
